Parents, Canadians, and Leaf Peepers, OH MY!

In addition to the miserable weather last weekend, Burlington became an oh-so-joyous epicenter of tourists.

1) It was UVM family weekend
2) It was a Canadian holiday weekend
3) Leaf peepers are still coming by the busloads, from all over the world (yes, I'm serious)

What fun, what fun. If you ever want an adventure, drive through Burlington and South Burlington, VT when there are an extra 20,000 people visiting from out of town.

On the bright side, the weather is gorgeous today, the population has returned to almost its normal size, and hub and I are going to hit the farmer's markets one last time before they close for the season. Woo hoo!

Also, I just looked out the window and hub seems to have half the contents of our garage spilling out onto the walkway.... interesting... perhaps I should run for cover.

xo,
Ms. V

And I bet the Canadian dollar being at par certainly isn't hurting business in Burlington either! The Canadian retailers are keeping the retails higher despite the 2 currencies being at par. So, on average consumer goods in Canada are about 25% more expensive and that's BEFORE taxes... and we all know how heavily those Canucks get taxed!

If I were a Canuck I'd be speeding across the border to go shopping too!

Well, at least until your firetruck gets pulled over (after 57 years of going back and forth) to make sure it's not fake...
